I drove a $71,000 Genesis GV60 electric SUV. These 21 features made it feel luxurious.

The Genesis EV oozes style and sophistication in an unconventional manner. Its rounded, masculine styling stands out from the crowd without seeming odd or out of place.

Its side profile is dominated by a sloping, coupe-like roofline that contributes to the GV60’s style but compromises rear-seat headroom and cargo capacity.

2. Snazzy cabin design
A Genesis GV60 plugged into a charger.

The GV60 is built on Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack under the passenger cabin.

According to Genesis, the GV60 can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes on a fast charger. With a 240V level-two charger, the Genesis can charge from 10% to 100% in about 7 hours.

The EPA rates the base Genesis GV60 Standard for up to 294 miles of range, while the Advanced trim is rated for 248 miles.

My test car was rated for 239 miles of range. However, I achieved closer to 250 miles of range during my time with the vehicle.

4. Boost Button
The Genesis GV60’s front seats.

Besides looking great, the GV60’s driver’s seat features an Ergo-Motion function that uses self-adjusting inflatable air pockets to support the driver’s posture and combat fatigue on long drives.

6. Smaht Pahk
The rear facia of a Genesis GV60.

The GV60 is equipped with a hands-free tailgate. It is also found in other premium Hyundai/Kia products like the Palisade and EV9.

The GV60’s liftgate triggers if you stand within 3 feet of the rear bumper for more than three seconds while possessing the key fob.

This is a departure from rival systems that require the driver to swing or kick their leg under the back bumper.

8. Crystal sphere rotary shifter
The GV60’s HUD.

A head-up display (HUD) projects key information onto the windshield in front of the driver. The GV60’s HUD is configurable and can show everything from the location of surrounding cars to the status of its adaptive cruise control.

10. Facial recognition
The GV60’s 12.3-inch infotainment screen.

The 12.3-inch touchscreen atop the front dash is home to the GV60’s infotainment system, which looks great and is a breeze to navigate. The system is equipped with a host of interesting features, such as quiet mode, which mutes rear cabin speakers to allow passengers to relax in peace, and a built-in diagnostic system that allows owners to check the operating condition of the vehicle’s various functions.

12. Visual settings menu
The GV60’s 360-degree surround view camera.

The GV60 has cameras on the front grille, rear liftgate, and under each side mirror. This feature stitches together images from the cameras around the car to create a 360-degree view of its surroundings.

The software not only provides an overhead view, it can also generate an image looking at the vehicle.

14. Digital gauge cluster
The GV60’s passenger seat controls.

The GV60’s front passenger seat can be controlled using buttons located on the inner seatback. This allows the driver as well as rear seat occupants easy access to adjust the seat’s position.

16. Blind spot view monitor
The GV60’s charging plug.

The GV60 is equipped with bi-directional charging capability, which means it can serve as a remote power source in a pinch.

Plug the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) adapter, which comes with the GV60, into the charging receptacle, and the GV60 can power small appliances up to 1.9 kW at 16 amps.

18. Bang & Olufsen Stereo
The Genesis GV60’s non-opening sunroof.

The GV60’s “Vision Roof” is standard across all trim levels. It has a power shade apparatus, but the glass roof itself doesn’t open.

I love how much light the glass roof let into the cabin, although I was a little bummed it couldn’t open.

20. Frunk

The Genesis is equipped with a whole suite of advanced safety features.

Some of the GV60’s safety tech includes forward collision avoidance assist, lane keep assist, lane following assist, driver attention warning, blind spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, parking collision avoidance assist, safe exit assist, and advanced rear occupant alert.
