Divers searching the shipwreck of tech tycoon Mike Lynch’s superyacht have found the bodies of two missing passengers.

The 183-foot Bayesian superyacht was carrying 22 people when it sank during stormy weather near Porticello, Palermo.

Fifteen people were rescued, including Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares. Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter are among six passengers who remain missing.

The bodies were found in the hull of the boat behind two mattresses, La Repubblica said.

The head of Sicily’s civil protection agency, Salvatore Cocina, has confirmed to the BBC that two bodies were discovered. Efforts are now underway to recover them.

Italian authorities are investigating the exact cause of the sinking while search crews continue to look for the missing passengers.

A spokesperson for the local fire department told The Independent that the search is “complex,” adding that divers operate in 12-minute underwater shifts.
