One of these properties is a $33.5 million mansion nicknamed “Shangri-La,” which has been on the market for a year and a half. It joins a list of other highly valued mansions that have been on the market for prolonged periods of time for reasons including relatively high interest rates and economic uncertainty.

It’s located in the small village of Brookville, which has been named one of the most affluent neighborhoods in the US. The average annual household income in Brookville is $617,235, according to data from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey 2022 five-year estimates.

The home, listed by Daniel Gale Sotheby’s, features two pools, two ponds, eight bedrooms, eight fireplaces, an arboretum, a screened-in porch, and almost 22 acres of land. According to the listing, the property’s interior space covers more than 23,000 square feet.

Listing agent Sandy Binder of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s told Business Insider that in her decades of experience, it’s one of the most beautiful homes she’s ever seen on the North Shore of Long Island.
