Marvel has 6 superhero movies coming up — here they all are

Zendaya as MJ and Tom Holland as Spider-Man in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

  • Marvel Studios’ latest movie, “Deadpool & Wolverine,” grossed over $1 billion.
  • Marvel’s next release, “Captain America: Brave New World,” is scheduled for February 14, 2025.
  • Two more “Avengers” movies, a “Fantastic Four” reboot, and a fourth “Spider-Man” are also on the way.

Marvel is back on top after “Deadpool & Wolverine” made over $1 billion at the box office over the summer.

Fans were worried about Marvel’s future after a series of poorly-received movies and TV series, production delays, and the firing of the actor who was supposed to play the next big villain.

But its latest release, “Deadpool & Wolverine,” is now the second highest-grossing film of the year, after the animated movie “Inside Out 2,” which earned $1.6 billion globally.

Amid the success of “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Marvel has made multiple announcements that have capitalized on the renewed interest, including the return of beloved actor Robert Downey Jr. Most recently, it was announced that Tom Holland‘s fourth stand-alone “Spider-Man” film will hit theaters in summer 2026.

Here’s what to know about Marvel’s upcoming releases.

The following list contains Marvel theatrical release dates known as of October 25, 2024. It will be updated as new releases are confirmed.

February 14, 2025: “Captain America: Brave New World”
David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker.

While we await the next “Avengers” movie, Marvel is releasing a new antihero group next year.

The Thunderbolts are a ragtag bunch of characters we’ve seen introduced in various movies and Disney+ shows. Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), US Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) will all star in the upcoming movie. The group seems like Marvel’s version of the Suicide Squad.

The plot of “Thunderbolts*” is still largely unknown, but it likely involves the new hero introduced in the film, Sentry (Lewis Pullman). In the comics, Sentry is one of the most powerful heroes.

Geraldine Viswanathan is playing an undisclosed character, while Ford will reprise his role as Ross in the movie.

July 25, 2025: “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”
Robert Downey Jr. appeared onstage at Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel in July to reveal he’s playing Doctor Doom.

Originally, the next “Avengers” movie was going to center on Jonathan Majors‘ villain, Kang. But Marvel fired him after Majors was convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

Now, the film seems to be setting up the Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom as the next major “Avengers” threat.

Doom has yet to be introduced in the MCU, but Marvel announced at SDCC in July that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the franchise to play a version of Doom.

With this new villain, it seems more likely that Marvel is adapting two major events from Marvel comics in 2015 and 2016, “Time Runs Out” and “Secret Wars.”

Brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed the last two “Avengers” movies, will direct both “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars.”

July 24, 2026: “Spider-Man 4”
Anthony and Joe Russo are a sibling directing duo who will direct the next two “Avengers” movies.

This film will likely close out phase six and will wrap up the Multiverse saga, pushing Marvel into a new age.

TBD: “Blade”
Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes in Marvel’s “Secret Invasion.”

According to Disney’s updated release calendar from October 2024, there are seven more untitled Marvel movies in development through 2028.

In September 2022, The Hollywood Reporter reported, citing an unnamed source, that Don Cheadle’s Disney+ series, “Armor Wars,” will be turned into a movie. It could be one of the untitled films. (The studio has not officially confirmed an “Armor Wars” film, and neither has Cheadle.)

A sequel for “Shang-Chi,” “Doctor Strange,” “Black Panther,” or “Thor” could also be released on one of these dates.

Below are the dates attached to these untitled films:

February 13, 2026
November 6, 2026
July 23, 2027
November 5, 2027
February 18, 2028
May 5, 2028
November 10, 2028
