Hillary Clinton wore a white outfit to deliver her primetime speech in a reference to the women’s suffrage movement.
Her speech on Monday included the line “Progress is possible, not guaranteed,” which is a lyric in the show.
She walked offstage to “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten, the hallmark song of her 2016 presidential campaign.
“Sky Full of Stars” was Beau Biden‘s favorite song. Coldplay front man Chris Martin played at his funeral.
Like Clinton, she also wore suffragette white.
The roll call was transformed into a dance party by DJ Cassidy, who played music while each group of delegates pledged their votes to Harris.
Some songs featured obvious references to certain states, such as “Sweet Home Alabama” for Alabama’s delegates.
Other references were more subtle. For example, “Good Luck Babe” by Chappell Roan, a Missouri native, played during Missouri’s roll call. Ohio played “Green Light” by John Legend, who is from Springfield.
The video that played before Doug Emhoff’s speech was produced by his ex-wife, Kerstin Emhoff.
Clinton’s speech focused on the economy, but he also went off-script and spoke about his wide-ranging political career.
John Legend and Sheila E. sang “Let’s Go Crazy” by Prince, a Minnesota native, before Walz’s speech.
“I’ve flown into space four times. I’ve flown into combat nearly 40 times. Not once did I do that by myself,” Kelly said. “It took a team to accomplish a mission. It always does.”
Ella Emhoff wore a dress by Joe Ando, a TikTok-famous designer.
Ando, who has nearly 3 million followers on TikTok, shared in his Instagram story that Emhoff crocheted the rosette on her sleeve.
