I spent $50 at Aldi to host a barbecue for 4 people. My budget got us plenty of meat and sides, plus a case of beer.

The cheapest burger buns at Aldi were its L’oven Fresh brand.

I’m not a bun snob, so I reached straight for the bottom shelf at Aldi.

My only complaint is how small the L’oven Fresh .

Everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Jalapeño chips: $1.95
Everyone else prefered the barbecue chips.

I picked up some barbecue-flavored at Aldi.

The brand produces several beers that (unfortunately for those in other parts of the country) can pretty much only be purchased in Wisconsin.

Spotted Cow is the best of the best. The farmhouse ale embodies summer in Wisconsin, and I think it tied the whole cookout together.

The barbecue was an affordable success.
I think I could spend even less if I hosted another small cookout.

At the end of my cookout, everyone was satisfied, and we ended up with plenty of leftovers. In fact, if I were to host another one, I’d buy fewer burgers and only one pack of brats.

For $50, I was impressed by the variety of cookout essentials Aldi could provide.

The only thing I wouldn’t purchase again is the coleslaw. But the burgers, Buffalo-chicken dip, macaroni salad, and beer may just become Aldi staples for me.
