Verizon’s outage has now been fixed

The massive Verizon outage is apparently over, with the company announcing that services have been fully restored.

“Verizon engineers have fully restored today’s network disruption that impacted some customers,” Verizon wrote in a post on X. “Service has returned to normal levels. If you are still having issues, we recommend restarting your device. We know how much people rely on Verizon and apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate your patience.”

It still isn’t clear exactly what caused the outage.

The news came approximately seven hours after the telecom giant first acknowledged the issue, which impacted customers across most of the U.S. According to crowdsourced tracker Down Detector, nobody in North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wyoming reported being impacted by the Verizon outage. Unfortunately, these states were in the minority.

Despite Verizon’s statement, some on social media claim that their service has still not been restored even though they restarted their phone as recommended. It seems some customers will have to continue being patient for a little longer.
